Marissa Murdy
I am interested in photographing what is beyond closed doors; where we see the reality of relationships and loneliness. My interest in intimacy is in it’s complexity, that it can be simultaneously about connecting and disconnect. It is the relationship between these that intrigues me. Photographing people in their homes and how they become a part of their environment and true to themselves is something I am curious about. Being in the nude is embracing vulnerability and connects identity with beauty. By having my models confront the viewer I aim to show the power and strength of these women and by doing so, take away the male gaze. I want to explore a world where we question morality and photograph truth and honesty.
I am a fine art photographer based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Photography in 2014.
